It’s that time of the year again… the 2022 NEXT! Staged Reading Series at Fenimore Art Museum is upon us!
This year, while our audition process will be held virtually, performances will either be recorded in-person in Cooperstown and streamed online, or recorded on Zoom and then streamed. This is dependent on how COVID case numbers progress locally, as well as the needs of individual plays. Currently, we plan to record our readings of Locker Room Talk and Cards and Spinners in person, while Fall is likely to be recorded on Zoom.
If you’ve not participated in this program in the past, each year, Fenimore Art Museum selects a handful of new plays by local/regional playwrights, and premieres them for free to the public, followed by a Q&A with the playwright, director and cast. This is a great low-commitment, no-memorization opportunity to get involved with the development of some of the finest new plays the region has to offer.
The three plays we’re producing this year are described in detail below. Audition sides
for all plays can be found on this page. Full scripts for two of the plays
can also be found here, while the script for Fall is available on request via [email protected].
Auditions are open starting today and will be open through Sunday 2/20.
