Fenimore Art Museum Announces 2020 Exhibitions

Fenimore Art Museum in Cooperstown, New York, has announced its 2020 exhibition schedule (April 1–December 31). A wide variety of world-class art will be on view through the season. Visitors will find iconic photographs from Ansel Adams, an extensive private collection of works from 80s Pop art icon Keith Haring, original paintings from renowned children’s book author Jan Brett, and much more.

A total of ten exhibitions will be presented in 2020 alongside Fenimore’s impressive collections of fine art, folk art, and Native American art on view throughout the year. These collections include The Eugene and Clare Thaw Collection of American Indian Art, which was exhibited at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in 2017.

The summer is highlighted by two major exhibitions including Manzanar: The Wartime Photographs of Ansel Adams (May 23–September 9, 2020) and Keith Haring Originals (May 23–September 27, 2020). Adams’ Manzanar photographs, created in 1943, are a departure from his signature style of landscape photography and serve as documentation of the Japanese relocation camp in California. Keith Haring Originals celebrates the 80s Pop art icon–featuring eighty of his energized works from a private collection.

The season also includes The World of Jan Brett (April 1–May 13, 2020), Favorite Things: Costumes and Images from The Sound of Music (June 27–August 30, 2020), Albrecht Durer: Master Prints (September 19–December 31, 2020), Pete Souza: Two Presidents, One Photographer (October 21–December 31, 2020), Blue Gardens: Photographs by Gross and Daley (April 1–September 13, 2020), and others.

“Our goal is to bring world-class art to the region,” said Dr. Paul S. D’Ambrosio, Fenimore Art Museum President and CEO. “In 2020, visitors will find a wide range of artistic mediums and styles from some of the most iconic names in the art world–including Ansel Adams and Keith Haring.”

The museum is open April 1–December 31, 2020. Spring hours (April 1–May 11): 10:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m., Tuesday through Sunday (closed Mondays). Summer hours (May 12–October 12): open daily 10:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. Fall hours (October 13–December 31): 10:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m., Tuesday through Sunday (closed Mondays, Thanksgiving, and Christmas Day).
