BELIEVE IN YOURSELF: WHAT WE LEARNED FROM ARTHUR

August 7 – December 31, 2021

Bring the family to see original illustrations spanning the career of beloved children’s book author and illustrator Marc Brown. Brown is the creator of the bestselling Arthur Adventure book series, which developed into the popular PBS television series Arthur.

Believe in Yourself: What We Learned from Arthur will delight young visitors with an inside look at Marc Brown’s artwork and stories. It includes many of Brown’s pencil, pen-and-ink, and watercolor illustrations featuring many of the ever-popular characters he has created. Find all your favorite Arthur characters including D.W., Francine, Buster, Mr. Ratburn, and more!

See artwork from the books Democracy for Dinosaurs and If All the Animals Came Inside. There is also a sneak preview of Marc Brown’s new book Believe in Yourself: What We Learned from Arthur, expected to be released in 2022. Kids have the opportunity to create their own art based on Arthur and see videos of Brown reading some of his favorite Arthur books.

Celebrate Arthur’s 25th season as a hit PBS children’s television series with a visit to Fenimore Art Museum.

About Marc Brown
Marc Brown has had many jobs… truck driver, short-order cook, TV art director, and a college professor. When the college closed he was rescued by an aardvark who appeared one night while telling his son a bedtime story. That bedtime story became his first book, ARTHUR’S NOSE. Then a series of books which became the longest running animated children’s program in history. He is a #1 New York Times bestselling author, winner of three Emmy Awards, the George Foster Peabody Award   and most recently, the Television Critics Award for the episode, Mr. Ratburn and the Special Someone.

Next year he celebrates two anniversaries, 25 years of Arthur on PBS and 45 years of children around the world reading Arthur books.

The exhibition is sponsored in part by Nellie and Robert Gipson, WCNY, and WMHT.

Free admission for ages 19 and under extended through December 31, 2021!
