Omonike Akinyemi is a passionate performer, filmmaker, and choreographer. She has performed since childhood as a chorister with Cathedral of St. John the Divine, the Ballet Hispanico of New York Apprentice Dance Company, and Alaafia Dance of Yale University. Omonike has also performed “Hawa” in The Glove Theater’s “In Dafur”, “Grandmother” in Sadako and the 1000 Cranes”, and the role of Tituba in the Glimmer Globe Theater’s 2016 production of The Crucible. Omonike has written and directed numerous award-winning films and theatrical productions including the stage play, “How to Stay Sane in Paris” (2007) Nelly’s Bodega (2000), is now writing a historical feature, “Emancipado” (2018). A two-time Fellow of the New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA), Omonike was honored in 2004 with a Fellowship for Screenwriting and again in 2007 with a Fellowship in Filmmaking. While based in France from 1999-2003, Omonike wrote her first episodes of the episodic narrative film series, “Omo Shango: People Under the Influence of the God of Thunder” and was honored in Paris with the Cinema Images D’Ailleurs “Prix Jeune Cineaste.” Omonike looks forward to continuing to perform, write, and create films and classic stage plays that incorporate the English, Yoruba African, French and Spanish languages.
Andie Alban is a professional artist by trade, however, she also works part-time at a drug prevention agency as an educator, in addition to being a caretaker for her grandparents. Ms. Alban has her BFA in Illustration from the School of Visual Arts in Manhattan. Andie had usually been behind the scenes at shows, but by the good graces of folks at GlimmerGlobe, she is now stepping into the spotlight. This is her first speaking role in a fully staged production. She would like to thank Danielle and Michael Henrici, and Mike Tamburrino for their kindness and patience, and a thank you to her talented castmates as well! Finally, she would like to thank her family for their whole-hearted support of a new endeavor.
John Draper has acted in a number of plays and films in Tennessee, Ohio, California, and New York, although this is his first Shakespeare role. He has managed international tours for artists such as Madonna and Michael Jackson, among many others, and has performed stage manager duties at the New York Shakespeare Festival, McCarter Theater (Princeton, NJ), and Ivar Theater (Los Angeles). He’s also acting here this summer in A Case For Eviction and The Importance Of Being Earnest.
Michael Henrici (Iago) is a graduate of the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in NYC and a former member of the Academy’s Acting Company. A native of Cooperstown, he has worked with several local theatre companies including Leatherstocking (My Three Angels, Brighton Beach Memoirs, Master Harold, Sister Mary…Explains It All For You, Actor’s Nightmare, Sleuth, On Golden Pond), Orpheus (Phantom, Chicago, Into the Woods, Wizard of Oz, Footloose, Christmas Carol), and Little Victory (Cobb, Harvey). Michael’s NYC credits include Winter’s Tale, Othello, Macbeth, As You Like It, Hamlet, The American Clock, Così, Bus Stop, Mrs. Warren’s Profession, Blood Wedding, Beggars in the House of Plenty, Snowing at Delphi and The Crucible. Recent works with Glimmer Globe include the Compleat Wrks of Wllm Shkspr…Abridged- REVISED, Macbeth, The Crucible, A Midsummer Night’s Dream and the annual production of A Christmas Carol. He now lives in Phoenix Mills with his wife, Danielle, and son, Dashiell, and works as a Commissioner of Elections for Otsego County.
Danielle Henrici (Desdemona) is the Director of Education for Fenimore Art Museum and The Farmers’ Museum, as well as the Founder and Co-Artistic Director of Glimmer Globe Theatre. Danielle studied acting at New York University and holds a Master’s Degree in Educational Theatre. She worked as an actor, producer, theater teacher, theater manager, and model in Manhattan for seven years before moving to Cooperstown in 2010 and is a proud member of the Actors’ Equity Association. Favorite acting credits include A Streetcar Named Desire, Laundry and Bourbon, Three Sisters, The Cherry Orchard, Twelfth Night, Much Ado About Nothing, A Christmas Carol, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Line, Proof, Love, Loss, and What I Wore, Macbeth, and The Crucible. Favorite directing credits include The Compleat Works of Wllm Shkspr abridged (Revised), Lone Star, and A Christmas Carol. Endless love to my husband, Michael, and our son, Dash – my favorite production of all time! So much gratitude to our parents for the constant babysitting and endless support!
Jim is a retired High School Science teacher and was twice recognized as an APPLE “Excellence in Teaching” award winner. His very first onstage performance was with the Templeton Players in the 2015 production of “The Christmas Carol”, playing the role of the Ghost of Christmas Present. The acting bug hit!! He appeared as Giles Corey in the Glimmer Globe Theater’s 2016 production of “The Crucible”, the 2016 production of “The Christmas Carol” as the Ghost of Marley and the 2017 production of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” as Peter Quince. As Montano in this summer’s production of Othello, he’s learned that acting may require unusual skill sets. Specifically in my case the use of a rapier. “Acting was NEVER on my radar when I retired, and certainly was not in my bucket list of things to do. The encouragement I have received from others is much appreciated and has made for a lot of fun.”
Joseph Scott is no stranger to the languages and argots of Elizabethan England, having passed the two previous summers on cast at the Sterling Renaissance Festival as a “mud beggar,” speaking in dialect and practicing interactive theatre in the shire’s lanes and performing in the faire’s signature “mud shows.” His first and only other Shakespearean role was Demetrius in a production of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” at Mohawk Valley Community College, where he obtained his degree in Theatre. Off the stage, Joseph is a linguist, blogger and poet, but he considers all these occupations to be the same hat — a student of the word and human expression. Indeed, to Joseph’s mind, to be an actor, especially a Shakespearean one, is to be a linguist.
