Back When the Turtle Was New: Expressions of Identity in Art & Story – An Evening with Perry Ground
Join traditional storyteller and cultural educator Perry Ground (Onondaga, Turtle Clan) for a special evening filled with dazzling stories from various Native American cultures across North America. Stories can be humorous, poignant, ribald, or touching but all offer insight into culture and traditions and can be viewed as significant expressions of the identity of each particular group. This presentation will utilize objects from the Thaw Collection of American Indian Art to discuss the importance of storytelling to Native Peoples and examine how these stories are communicated in different ways.
