Every Saturday in July and August, join us on the terrace at the Fenimore Art Museum for a special show at 1:00 pm. It’s a wonderful opportunity to learn more about a culture with a deep, lasting impact on our region.

The series begins on July 5 with Mohawk storyteller Kay Ionataiewas Olan. In 2010, Kay recorded the CD Mohawk Stories and is currently working on a second storytelling collection. Kay is on the Native American Advisory Board for the Fenimore Art Museum.

Opening on June 21 at the Fenimore Art Museum in Cooperstown, Madame Butterfly’s World: Woodblock Prints of a Changing Japan, complements the Glimmerglass Festival’s production of Madame Butterfly. The exhibition highlights the changing world in which Butterfly lives: a Japan that stands at the cusp of modernity as it moves from a feudal and agricultural country to an industrialized nation taking its place on the world stage.
