January 25: Meeting Venus (PG-13, 1991)
Running Time: 119 minutes
Location: Fenimore Art Museum Auditorium
This light-hearted look at life, love, music and the chaotic pursuit of happiness uses the squabbling and petty jealousies that lie behind Opera Europa’s struggle to stage Wagner’s Tannhauser as a metaphor for the breaking down of barriers in Europe.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and films start at 7 p.m. The film screenings are free and open to the public and run January 4 through February 8 at either the Fenimore Art Museum Auditorium or the National Baseball Hall of Fame’s Grandstand Theater. Patrons should use the main entrances at both locations. Refreshments will be available for purchase, with proceeds benefiting area organizations. For the sixth year, Augur’s Books is sponsoring a book raffle at each film. Winners will receive a copy of a book related to the film being presented. Augur’s Books is located at the corner of Pioneer and Main streets in Cooperstown.
Please note film ratings vary. Captions are available for most films for the hearing impaired; audience members may request captions upon admission.
