In this weeklong experience, your child can learn how nature inspires both art and music through the exploration of landscape painting and music. Activities are based on the themes in this summer’s exhibition The Hudson River School: Nature and the American Vision, which has been organized by the New-York Historical Society. Participants will be introduced to the fundamentals of art such as line, shape, color, and perspective as they look at the Otsego Lake landscape and through paintings. Activities and art will be inspired by the works of artists such as Albert Bierstadt, Thomas Cole, Frederic Church.
The weeklong experience culminates as participants experience a backstage tour at the Glimmerglass Festival and attend a performance of its production of Camelot.
*Note: Participants travel as a group to the performance; provided by the New York State Historical Association.
