Food for Thought
Exploring the World of Art and Opera
August 7, 2013, from 12:30–2:30 p.m. at Fenimore Art Museum
Come enjoy a moderated discussion with Francesca Zambello, Artistic and General Director of the Glimmerglass Festival, and Paul D’Ambrosio, President and CEO of the Fenimore Art Museum. Join us for this unique opportunity to learn more about these two cultural institutions, their collaborations, and this summer’s productions and exhibitions.
Focusing their insight and expertise on the ideals of the Romantic movement, Zambello and D’Ambrosio discuss operas by Verdi and Wagner, two of the most important 19th-century composers, and the art of the Hudson River School, a loosely knit group of artists who forged a self-consciously American landscape vision grounded in the exploration of the natural world as a resource for spiritual renewal and as an expression of cultural and national identity.
