History Scholarly Attributions: [1] Remarks by George MacDonald, Director of Canadian Museum of Civilization - 9/7/95 - "Believes it to be Tlingit, much earlier than 1870, probably 1800. The painting is similar to armor. The image is probably a whale." [2] Described as Haida according to the Taylor Museum's catalogue card. Steve Brown, however, identified the gambling tray as Tlingit. June 1998
