Join artist Susan Jones Kenyon on a journey of artistic discovery as you find and reveal your inner artist through the medium of paint! A variety of subject matter will be explored. Paint, brushes and (2) canvases are included in the cost. Reservations are required as classes are limited. All skill levels are welcome – including beginners!
All classes will culminate with a small gallery show at Fenimore.
Susan Jones Kenyon is a self-taught, impressionist painter from Cooperstown, New York. She has been painting for over 30 years focusing mainly on ethereal landscapes. In 2013, the Fenimore Art Museum in Cooperstown exhibited fourteen of her works in a season long exhibition entitled Places in Passing. In 2014, the museum acquired a painting from the same exhibition for their permanent collection, which includes the likes of Thomas Cole, Grandma Moses, and other important American artists. Susan is currently represented by the Greylock Gallery in Williamstown, MA. Her paintings and other works have sold nationally and internationally to corporate and personal clients in New York City, Boston, San Francisco, Carmel, Madrid, and throughout upstate New York. Learn how the master photographer’s artistry evolved from youth to established artist and how his work helped to legitimize photography as a fine art.
Eva Fognell, Curator of the Thaw Collection of American Indian Art, will lead guests through a special exhibition celebrating early years Eugene and Clare Thaw as collectors of American Indian objects. She will particularly focus on their collection of objects featuring the American flag symbol.
Join world-renowned artist David Levinthal as he personally guides you through his exhibition, History: Photographs by David Levinthal. These photographic works reimagine iconic moments in history from Napoleon’s coronation, to Civil War battles and Washington crossing the Delaware. His work is included in the collections of the Whitney Museum of Art, the Museum of Modern Art, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Join artist David Levinthal for a special presentation as he discusses and showcases images from his decades-spanning career. Levinthal uses large format cameras to photograph toys and collectibles in specially created dioramas, exploring history and pop culture in his photographs that blur the line between fantasy and reality. The exhibit, History: Photographs by David Levinthal is on display at Fenimore Art Museum through 2018.
David Levinthal’s photography is included in the collections of the Whitney Museum of Art, the Museum of Modern Art, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. David’s retrospective, David Levinthal: War, Myth, Desire opens at the George Eastman Museum on June 2nd, 2018 and will run through December 30th, 2018. His new book, David Levinthal: War Myth Desire, will be released in June 2018 in conjunction with this exhibition. This new book will be sold as a monograph as well as a limited edition collector’s box set.
