Hands-on Learning for Homeschool Students to Be Offered at The Farmers’ Museum and Fenimore Art Museum
Cooperstown Homeschool Day
The Farmers' Museum, Fenimore Art Museum, and the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum have teamed up to offer a terrific day of hands-on learning for homeschoolers and their families. Cooperstown Homeschool Day on June 26 is a great opportunity to participate in special programming, explore our museums, learn, laugh, and meet other homeschoolers!
Families visiting The Farmers' Museum and Fenimore Art Museum will have the opportunity to self-guide throughout the museums while participating in Museum Quest. Museum Quest is a series of staffed drop-in learning stations at both museums designed to help students explore our collections through standards-based activities in math, science, social studies, and language arts. This interactive program is appropriate for students in grades K-12.
Museum Quest features several new learning stations this year. The Lessons to Learn station in the historic schoolhouse gives students a taste of what it was like to go to school in the 1840s, complete with lessons in spelling and math. The Grain to Table station allows students to get up close with five types of grain and process corn or wheat using equipment in the Sweet Marble Barn.

One adult per family receives complimentary admission, and additional adults will be extended the discounted admission rate of $14.50 each. The museums are open from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm, with Museum Quest stations open from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.
The National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum also offers a special day filled with a variety of educational experiences for all grade levels from elementary through high school. Activities begin at 9:00 am and continue until 3:00 pm. Programs offered include tours, hands-on-history presentations, and other interactive lessons focused on math, science, social studies, and the arts. Come for a full day or just one activity!
Advance registration is also required at the Hall of Fame. Please contact its Education Staff at (607) 547-0313 for more information or to register for this program. Students are $6.00 each; one adult per each family is admitted free. Additional adults will be $19.50. The museum opens at 9:00 am and closes at 9:00 pm.
