In addition to showcasing outstanding painters and photographers selling their work, Art by the Lake features artist demonstrations, children’s art activities, great food, live music, beer and wine tastings – all with the backdrop of picturesque Otsego Lake.

Art by the Lake is a juried art competition featuring 22 painters and photographers from the region. A panel of judges determines awards and spectators vote for the Audience Favorite Award  through 2:30 p.m. The awards ceremony takes place at 3:00 p.m.

While at Art by the Lake, tour the Museum’s acclaimed summer exhibitions featuring artists such as Ansel Adams, Toulouse-Lautrec, and James Whistler. See the Fenimore’s latest exhibits Hamilton’s Final Act and All the World’s a Stage: Scott McKowen Shakespeare Theatre Posters. Also on view, an exhibit of paintings by last year’s Fenimore Award winner at Art by the Lake - artist Jessica Dalrymple.

In addition to the spectacular art and just a short stroll away is the museum’s Native American interpretive site, Otsego: A Meeting Place, where you’ll find Native American storytelling at the new Lucy B. Hamilton Amphitheater (noon and 3:15 p.m.). Visit our calendar for a complete list of tours to be given at Fenimore on August 6.
